LORD THOMOND«PAINKILL*ER BRACKET FILL PLACES (By Teleerarh-Speoial to "The Mall") CHRISTCHURCH, sth December. Lord Thomond and Painkiller (bracketed) and Red Royal were fancied iri tiie Winchmore Hack Handicap. Flair was soon in front with a good lead from ihe bracketed pair, with Red Royal next. Flair was beaten when the straight was reached. Lord Thomond beating Painkiller snsily by two lengths. Red Royal finished on well and was a length away with Flair and Shatter next. The result was assured a long way from home. GLENROWAN DEFEATS BEAU GESTE Beau Geste was a little better backed than Glenrowan for the Tinwald Handicap. Glenrowan had a lead of three lengths at the mile post after a very slow pace. Beau Geste moved up at the home turn but Glenrowan beat him by a length, always having the measure of the Riccarton horse. The pair rattled homo fast over the last six furlongs which suited the winner. ONE TO BALL DRESS Night Parade, Pharaoh and Craigavon were best backed in the Moreton Hack Handicap. From a very bad start Pharaoh soon opened out a gap of four lengths from Homecoming and Night Parade. At the end of two furlongs Night Parade and Ball Dress also joined in. Ball Dress headed Pharaoh half H mile from the post and won easily by three lengths, Pharaoh beating Night Parade by two lengths, with Ilaimo finishing fast close up. Craigavon lost his rider, G. Humphries, who was not injured.
