—*» . At the Baptist School Hall on Saturday afternoon, Mr 11. Wood, superintendent'of, the cradle roll and primary departments of the Sunday School, presided over a largo gathering of scholars with, their parents and friends. In extending, a welcome to all, the chairman .mentioned that that was tho eighth annual occasion which had boon celebrated.-: ' , Besides the singing of several songs by the" children, the following programme was given by the scholars: Recitations: Ngaire Thompson, Joy Ropuiy .Ashley Schwags,, Piit Win, Don ■Thorp, John Roper; dialogue ("Dolly's Doctor"), EdJia Greenem, Vona Lafrantz, and Don Thorp; solo, Edna Greenem;, pianoforte selection, Mary Robson;Miss M. Trussing and Mrs A. Kobcrtson also rendered two appropriate solos,; Miss Tucker being the accompantistc; while Miss Phyllis Wpod contributed a recitation. After a liberal and dainty afternoon tea had been dispensed, tho event of tho afternoon took place, namely the advent of '[Father Christmas" (Mr E. A. Wood) who descended a ladder, Loaded with presents. ;;,The bright beaming faces of the children and the evident delight of their piuvrts and friends, must havaumply rfpaved the organisers, and all who assisted to make the afternoon such a success.. ;
