SERIOUS CLASH
ON QUEENSLAND SUGARFIELDS BRITISH AND FOREIGNERS MANY PEOPLE INJURED (United Tress Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) BRISBANE, Ist December A serious clash occurred in the vicinity of Tully, between British and foreign nationals engaged in the sugarfields, many being injured. The combatants are all canoworkers. In the attacks stones, bottles, knives and pistols were used. George Norris has a wound in his chest ten inches long. Harry Robertson has a knife stab in his back". An Italian has a bullet wound in the leg and an Italian woman is suffering from a wound in her head. Five other Italians were treated in hospital for cuts and abrasions. The clash was the outcome of bad feeling due to the ever-increasing influx of foreigners.
