ESTABLISHMENT IN NELSON PRODUCTION OF FRUIT JUICES It will bo of considerable interest to fruitgrowers to learn that at the allotment meeting of Nelson Products, Ltd., J&ld yesterday, matters were put in train towards the early establishment of the new industry which .it is proposed to commence during the coming season. The company, which was registered on 9th October last, has been formed for the purpose of treating and marketing fruit juices, pulps, etc., in conjunction with other companies subsidiary to Vacuum Products (N„ Z. I, Ltd'. This latter is a world’s parent company with its ‘registered office at Wellington and is the proprietor and holder of patent , rights for crown seal, bottling, and hulk sealing vacuum machines. Orchardists have, in the past, faced enormous annual wastage, the result of varying causes, and it is confidently, anticipated that the operations of this company will enable them to reap additional returns which they now forego; - also it is felt that the company’s operations will nlijy an important part, by _ the absorbing of. “cull” fruit, in the dispelling of the frequency of “gluts” ■ to which local markets are periodically ; subjected. This should have a considerable effect in improving the" economic position in the Drovince and from such, angle the formation of the company is of great moment to the community generally. The factory premises will be located'in Nelson City. In the districts so far canvassed the strongest of support has been extended by growers. Mr H. R. Duncan has been elected as chairman of directors, and associated with him on the board are Messrs C. H. Mackay of Upper Moutere, C.. J. Boyes of Motueka, and E. J\ James of Tasman; whilst Messrs Vercoe and Gilbert, of Trafalgar street, Nelson, have been appointed secretaries to the ■ company.
