INCREASED TAXATION
(Received 10th September, 9.55 a.m.) HOBART, This Day. The Assembly read a first time two Bills to re-establish tho financial position. These include a wages and salaries tax by means of a stamp duty at tho rate of 3d in the £l, increase in income taxes, a percentage reduction in public service salaries, generally increased probate duties, an additional penny stamp on cheques, and amusement and motor tax increases. MR SCULLIN'S HEALTH (Received 10th September, 9.55 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. : A, message from the Orama says that Mr Scullin is improving rapidly.
