WEDDING
RANKIN-BARNES A charming evening wedding which attracted a large number of friends was celebrated at Christ Church, Wanganui, says the "Chronicle," when Winifred Mary, only daughter of Mrs and the late'Mr ("Barney") Barnes, was married to Lindsay Car'lyle, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Rankin, iMotueka, Nelson. The bride, who entered the church with her uncle, Mr Melville, of Kaponga, wore a dainty frock of ivory satin. The corsage was tight-fitting, while the full -skirt had inset of lace medallions, and? a diamante buckle was worn. Her long silk net veil, forming a train, was arranged cap fashion and was held in place with a band of orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of artificial white roses and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Gwen Allen, was attired in a long frock of coral pink satin, with hat to tone, and her bouquet was composed of artificial roses and mandenhair fern. Little Gloria Allen made a dainty flower girl in her early Victorian frock of pale blue satin and mob cap, and she carried a posy of blue forget-me-nots. Mr H. Rankin, of Motueka, brother of the bridegroom, ably carried out the duties of best man. At the reception, which was held at the Royale Willows, Mrs Barnes received over 70 guests. She wore a model frock of cinnamon brown crepe de chine, with hat to tone. Her bouquet was ot autumn tinted flowers. The beautifully adorned two-tiered caks was the gift of the bride's great grandmother, who was present at the wedding. . • After the reception a very enjoyable dance was held.
