PUREBRED CATTLE

PURCHASED FOR NELSON DISTRICT

At the Bushy Park sale of Mr F. G. Moore's pedigree stock Mr F. W. Fairey purchased' the pure-bred Hereford cow Park Amethyst fi.'ird. The cow, which is seven years' old, was sired by President Wilson, which cost 2200 guineas, and is a splendid breeding cow and a good mother. As an indication of the quality of her blood it may be mentioned that two of her daughters and a granddaughter and a two-year-old bull are being retained in the Bushy Park herd.

At the same sale Mr Geo. Macmahon purchased the two-year-old pure bred Hereford bull Maire, a very fine animal.

The acquisition of such blood stock to the district is of importance and should result in a great improvement to the herds.

Mr Fairey also purchased in the North Island a pure-bred Hereford bullock, 2 years and 9 months old. Experts state that the animal is good enough to win a first prize at Smithfield as early-matured beef under 3 years' old. Mr Fairey intends sending the beast to compete at the Sydney Royal Show in April next. Mr Fairey has won seyei - al championships at that show and hopes to add still another to his list of winnings.

All the beasts will be exhibited at the forthcoming A. and P. Show at Richmond Park.
