THAT CANCELLED VISIT

MR DEAN'S REPLY DISCUSSED BY RUGBY UNION

At last night's meeting of the Nelson Rugby Union. Mr Dean's reply to Nelson's protest regarding the change of venue of the British match was discussed. No member af the union could remember the occasion of a vote of confidence in Mr Dean and the'secretary could not find one in the minutes. It was said that Mr Dean had probably credited himself with an expression of the Nelson Union's confidence in the N.Z.R.U. committee as a whole, or that he had mistaken a usual vote of thanks to the chairman on the occasion of a meeting of Seddon Shield Union delegates in 1928 to discuss gate charges, as a vote of confidence in him, as chairman of the N.Z.R.U.

Mr G. ,P. Russell's suggestion that dissatisfaction with Mr Dean and his committee was only local was met with a chorus of "No !" One member said he had just finished a tour of New Zealand, and had .heard complaints from Rugby people both north and south.
