MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Plunket Society was held in the Waimea County Council rooms.
Accounts passed for payment amounted to £225 19s 2d, but out of this is put in the cost of printing the cookery book, which amounted to £l4O 6s 6d. This, however, is all covered by the advertisements printed in it. Nurse Pascoe reports as follows for the town: New cases for the month 16; mothers and adults to the rooms 283; babies 189, older children 64 ; visits to homes 245, babies over one years under supervision, 338; cases under treatment 472. The number of visitors to the Plunket rooms was 536. Wakapuaka lias been visited three times, Stoke and Tahuna four times, during the month, There lias been very little sickness amongst the babies, but many of the new babies have needed constant attention. The majority of now cases come -to us during the first six weeks, which is 'more satisfactory, as one can often prevent any serious digestive trouble. Nurse Mason reported for the country as follows : —Richmond : Visits to rooms adults 16, babies 15, older children 3. Richmond was visited twice during the mbntli, one new case being taken and all the others doing very well. Wakefield : Visits to rooms, adults 6, babies 4. One visit was paid and one new case was taken. All babies seen were satisfactory. Dovedale: Visits to homes 9. Dovedale was visited twice. Owing to very wet weather no meeting was held. All babies and mothers seen at home were very well. .Murchison : Visits to homes 12, visits to rooms 20, babies 22, older children 4. Murchison was visited twice during the month. Several members of the Nelson committee paid them a visit, for which the sub-branch were very grateful. The attendance at the rooms was very good, even though the weather was very cold and wet. Two new cases were taken and the other babies were all very well. The annual meeting is to be hold in the MethoclisP Hall,, the date to be arranged later on in July. A letter was received from Dr. Derrick thanking the president and coinmittee for their letter of sympathy in his illness. Mrs Lock lias kindly arranged for the Plunket cookery hook to be screened at the. Theatre. Karitane Nurse Hay has most kindly given her services to help the Plunket nurses? twice a week and they and the Society are very grateful for her help and wish her a pleasant and enjoyable trip to England.
