The recipients of knighthoods include Major Thomas Crozier, Chief Inspector of Explosives at the Home Office; Dr. Harold Delf Gillies, chief plastic surgeon of the Ministry of Pensions, for valuable services in the treatment of facial disfigurement; and Mr Henry Lytlon, famous for his parts in Gilbert and Sullivan opera. Particularly notable are the honours conferred upon Sir John Simon, chairman of the Indian Statutory Commission, who is appointed Knight Grand Commander of the Order of the Star of India, and upon Miss Amy Johnson, who is appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
