LOYALTY TO REPUBLIC ARMY OATH A NEW DECREE (United Press Association—By Eleotrio Telegraph-Copyright) LONDON, 3rd June. Tlio "Daily News" Berlin correspondent says that the most important step to assure the permanence of the- German Republic was taken by President Hindenburg when, almost unnoticed by the public, 'ho decreed a new article of war through which the entire army took the oath of loyalty (o the Republic. This is the first time since the revolution of 1918 that the German army has officially recognised the Republic, which previous articles of war did «ot mention, a soldier merely being required to swear allegiance to the Fatherland; Monarchists will thus no longer bo able to claim that they can advocate the abolition of the Republic and still remain loyal to the Fatherland.
