SHOOTING GALLERY FATALITY
CONDUCTOR KILLED (By Telegraph—Press Association) , AUCKLAND, This Day. The conductor of a shooting gallery at the Waikato Winter Show, Joseph Dufty, aged 45 years, of Oxford street, Claudelands, was fatally shot last evening through the accidental discharge of a .22-inch calibre rabbiting rifle in the hands of an Indian named Rancwhard Sukhu, who was about to try his skill at moving targets. The bullet entered Dufty's chest, and'he died while being taken to hospital. Dufty was standing in a space between the firing platform and the targets, and was about four feet away from the muzzle of the rifle when the accident occurred. The accident caused a sensation. The Hindu was unable to explain how the rifle discharged. Dufty was a wellknown carrier in the Waikato and augmented his income by running side shows at regattas and shows, he was a well-known professional wrestler, League and Rugby footballer, and cricketer. He was married, with i o children.
