MOTOR ACCIDENT
TWO MEN KILLED LORRY GOES OVER BANK (By Telegraph—Press Association) NAPIER, This Day. Two men wore killed, one seriously injured, and one slightly, when a motor truck went off the road in the vicinity of Waikari and fell down a 100-foot bank to a creek bed. Those killed were:—
Alexander Mclntosh, aged 45 years, a farmer of Putorino, harried, with six children.
William Johnston, aged 25 years, a farm labourer, of Putorino, whose parents reside at Dannevirke.
Those injured are A. E. Porter, seriously, and V. J. Barry, bruises and shock, both of Putorino. Porter was driving, and half a mile beyond Waikari, on the Napier-Wairoa road, when negotiating a cutting, they met a car driven by a man named Holden. When passing the car grazed the rear of the truck, and the impact turned the latter’s nose towards the bank over which it ran before Porter could gam control. It turned over several times before landing on its wheels in the creek Mclntosh and Johnston suffered fractured skulls.
