NOTICE OF MOTION Councillor Croucher moved according to _notice .given : ''That. the motion appointing Messrs. Stewart and Owen as the Borough solicitors be rescinded." The mover stated that: this action was necessary as the above'' firm had dissolved partnership. Councillor Schroder seconded the motion which was carried. _ Councillor Croucher moved and Councillor Newport'* seconded that a. firm of solicitors practising in Nelson be appointed as Hie Council's solicitors. The Mayor moved that the Borough solicitors when appointed be instructed *.o make clause B< of by-law 32 to meet tbe 'requirements of the Borough, the annual fee to be 10s per 100 superficial feet. The motion was seconded by Councillor Schroder and carried.- ■ ..

■ FOREMAN'S REPORT The: Foreman's; report slated f Two and a half days' grading have been carried out: since last meeting. The swanrns iii Queen street have been' raised. Tne grass has been removed from the footpaths in William, George and Edward streets; Four inch;pipes have been placed under the footpath in William street, si ditch dug and with stones to keep the footpath dry, also two lots of four'inch pipes.under the-footpath from the stones to'the water!able in George street. 'Owing to the rain the coat of beach mud is not completed yet.
