AN UNFINISHED SONNET
The "Saturday Review" offered prizes for the completion of a poem left unfinished by Shelley,; the competitors 'to assume that the poet; had intended, to write a sonnet in Shakespearian .form. The following, by Mr P. R. Laird, v won the first prize.. (The-first four lines arid five words of the fifth line are Shelley's)':-:; : . ; Such hope,.as' is the . sick despair of good, ■ ' : . - ■;'.'. - ' ~,. Such fear as, is /the. certainty; of ;-.ill| Such doubt as ; is pale Expectation's!
