GOVERNMENT DEFEAT
IN FEDERAL SENATE (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright' CANBERRA, 16th May. The Senate rejected the Government’s regulation altering pickup places, the object of which was to deprive volunteer wharf labourers of the’ advantages won during the last upheaval. The Government is now being pressed by militants to introduce a straight out amendment to the Transport Workers’ Act, giving waterside unionists preference, which quite recently Mr Justice Beeby refused.
