AMONGST THE PIGS
LORD BLEDISLOE VISITS ADDINGTON *
(By Telegraph—Special to "The Mail”)
CHRISTCHURCH, 9th April. Regardless of his spats and the rest of his immaculate attire, Lord Bledisloe scorned the dirt and mess of the pig pens when he paid a visit to Addington yards to-day. His Excellency was accompanied by Lady Bledisloe, two aides, and the Alayor of Christchurch. The party made a tour of inspection of the yards and His Excellency displayed keen interest in the pigs. He went right in among them and inspected them closely. I-Ie was watched with interest by a crowd of farmers. Climbing on to the rails of a pen ho leaned right over and prodded a fat porker. “That’s a good pig,” lie said, ‘but it’s a little too heavy in front.” “lie must be a good sort; lie’s interested in pigs,” a farmer was heard to remark as the party left tho. yards, thereby voicing the general opinion of the farmers about the new GovernorGeneral.
