SUSPENSION OF JOCKEYS
AN OPPORTUNE CONCESSION
AUCKLAND, This Day
The decision to remove the .suspension imposed on the jockeys W. A. Ronnie, J. H. MeOac, 'and A. J. Gilmer., as from 31st May has been made by the Auckland district committee. In Juno 1928, as the result of an inquiry into the riding of horses in two high weight handicaps at Rotorua races in the preceding February, the judicial committee of Rotoima Racing Club disqualified Rennie and Gilmer for twelve month, and McCrae for six months. The jockeys appealed and the Auckland district committee in dismissing the appeals, increased the penalty in each case to two years' disqualification as from 29th June 1928. Subsequently the disqualification was altered to suspension. The effect of the action of the district committee in reducing the term by a month to the end of 31st May is that the jockeys, if they succeed in obtaining licenses, will be able to ride at the Auckland Racing Club's Winter Meeting in June. They arc all hurdle horsemen so that the concession will come at an opportune time for them.
