PILOT AND TWO PASSENGERS BURNED TO DEATH

(Received 26th March, 9.35 a.m.) VANCOUVER, 25th March.

The pilot and two passengers were burned to death when an aeroplane owned by Wallace Beery, the screen actor, went into a tailsp'in 500 feet above Alhambra suburb, near Los Angeles, and crashed into a field with a terrific impact, bursting into flames. Beery's pilot, the hitter's wife, and another aeroplane piiot friend were in the machine, which was a cabin biplane. The actor was not aboard. A spluttering motor caused the 'plane to lose altitude.

Motorists who rushed, to the scene when the machine struck' could see the bodies behind a wall of flame but rescue was impossible. TWO BRITISH OFFICERS KILLED (Received 26th March, 9.55 a.m.) LONDON, 25th March. A Vickers Virginia bomber 'plane, landing after a night flight, crashed at VVorthydown. Flying-Officer E. R. White and Pilot-Officer P. J. Pratt were killed. Squadron-Leader A. S. Allerton was dangerously injured and two aircraftsmtu slightly injured.
