The directors of the Industrial Corporation stated that they would discharge all of three 'hundred persons whose names were submitted by Police Commissioner Whalen as operating in plants as organisers, agitators, and propagandists of Communism. The head of the police stated that new names would follow, the black list possibly reaching thousands, and that the clean-up of the “red” element had been directed especially toward the city’s educational facilities.
