The restriction of credit for Australians travelling overseas has had no appreciable effect on the number sailing in the immediate future, but the general opini6n is that a decline must set in shortly. The tourist season is now at its height, and jj. is common knowledge that some shipping companies ;t>e assisting travellers in their financial larangeinents rather than lose the tourist business. The companies concerned accept in Australia amounts limited to a few hundred' sterling from clients and issue a receipt payable at the other end. The usual charge ranges to 4 per cent.
