BIG BILLIARDS

LINDRUM’S BRILLIANT PLAY A SENSATIONAL SESSION (Uml-eii Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 10th March. Amid scenes of enthusiasm, Lindrum smashed another world’s record at the -Memorial Hall, scoring 4287 against Smith’s 358, perhaps the most sensational session in the history of the game. Lindrum compiled breaks of 1417, 1809, and 750 with amazing rapidity. He actually scored 900 points potting the red and ordinary cannons with no nurseries. By way of contrast, in the course of another break he scored from 60 up to 1500 without going in-off once. All players agree that it was a most astonishing performance. They could not believe it possible, yet withal Lindrum finished up quite fresh. He broke down in his last effort at 750 through the ball kicking. An idea of Lindrum’s monopoly of the table may he gained from the fact that at the close of tho afternoon session the scores were: Lindrum, 2000; Smith, 169. He showed the same brilliance at night.

NEXT SEASON’S PLANS

LONDON", 10th March

Lindrum informed the Australian Press Association to-night that he had completed his arrangements for next season. He and McConachy had signed a contract under the auspices of Mr W. A. Camkin, of Birmingham, in conjunction with Janus Cloth. Lindrum to receive the highest salary ever paid to a professional for one season. Davis and Newman have also signed up under the. same auspices. The contracts in no way prevent competition for the championship, should the parties desire. The rules governing the season differ from those at present. As the result of a conference, the professionals to-day are all agreed that Lindrum is so far ahead that they honour him by handicapping the games. They will be run on a points system, Lindrum to receive six points for each thousand break, and the others ton points. Lindrum sails for Australia on 11th April, lie expects to return lo London in the middle of September and to be engaged up to Christmas.
