HAGEN'S BRILLIANT PLAY AT
MANLY

SYDNEY, Bth March. Hagen partnered by (lie Australian open champion Ivo Whittom easily accounted for the youthful local champions Hattersley and'Wines at Manly. Hattersley is a. long bitter and the crowd were 'interested lo see bow he compared with Hit' visitor. The local man often made the longest drives but Hagen was straigbter. He did the journey out in 35, returning in 37. He and Whittom won. two up. The gallery was more concerned lo see Hagen's play than in. the result of the match. His greatest shots were, a couple of woods which carried him almost onto the fifth green, bringing a gasp of amazement from the onlookers. Ho was only at fault at the twelfth and fourteenth holes, losing a stroke at each. At all the, others the champion was shooting ' par figures." AN EXHIBITION GAME SYDNEY, Bth .March. Hagen, playing an exhibition game to-day with Charlie Campbell against Frank Eyre and Dan Souter at Elanore country club, won at the fourteenth bole, five and four. Hagen went, oat and in in 34 each way. Campbell went out in 36. The others made a poor display. Tbe American's play was again followed by large crowds. The fairways were faulty but the greens were in good order. Hagen showed some dazzling shots.
