FUNERAL AT NEWCASTLE ' 'United Press Association—By Electric Teiegra ph—Copyright) SYDNEY, 7th March. The funeral of tho late Mr John Brown at Newcastle to-day was tho largest ever seen. Thousands lined the route. All classes of men ami women gathered. Six large cars were loaded with (lowers. One wreath was from his oldest friend Sir Adrian Knox, Chief Justice of the High Conn.
' Tho Miners' Federation was represented by Mr I). Davies, secretary, and the Jtforthern Collieries Association by Mr C. M. McDonald.
It is not generally known thai Mr Drown made repeated gifts of huge, sums of money during his lifetime to charities, and even distressed miners' families, always anonymously.
