The vacancy in the Law Drafting Office caused bv the appointment of Mr T. D. 11. Hall" LL.B., as Clerk of the House of Representatives, has been filled by tlie appointment of Mr 11. D. C. Adams. LL.B.. as assistant law draftsman, jtr Adams, who is a son of Dr. C. E. Adams, the Government Astronomer and Seismologist, was born in Napier, but educated in Wellington at the Roseneath School, Wellington College, and Victoria University College, lie won junior and senior" Education Hoard scholarships, and in his fourth year at Wellington College was dux of the school, and won a University National Scholarship. He graduated* LL.B in 1918, and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in the same year, lie was employed for some time by Messrs Luke and Kennedy, solicitors, 'Wellington, and was subsequently for four years on the staff of Messrs Chapman, Skerrelt, Tripp, and Blair, whose office he left in 1922 to enter into partnership with Mr W. Tudhupe. of Hamilton. After practising in Hamilton for over six years he returned to Wellington a few months ago, and has since I hen been i.e. the legal division of the Public Trust Office.

Lieutenant K. In wood, of the Nelson -Marlborough, and West Coast Reuiment has been awarded the Colonial "Auxili ary I'orccs Long Service Medal.

Mr W. Donovan, M.Sc. F.1.C., assist-ant-analyst of the Dominion Laboratory has been appointed Dominion Analvst in succession to Dr. J. S. MacLauriu who is to. retire at the end of the present month.—Press Association

Miller, of the Cawthron Institute, accompanied by Mrs Miller, left, Nelson last evening on a trip to Eilgand. where Dr. Miller will attend the Imperial Conference of Entomologists, before returning to New Zealand in nme months' time he will visit the Continent, th,. United States of America, and South America, in an effort to discover parasites for the control of insect pests in New Zealand.
