SYDNEY STOCK EXCHANGE

SYDNEY, sth February.

The gloomy atmosphere on the Stock Exchange was replaced to-day by buoyancy which was the most marked for many months. The prices of better class securities • made an excellent recovery, increases in share prices representing more than £3,000,000. Australian Bank of Commerce rose Is; Commercial Bank of Sydney, 15s; E.S. and A. Bank and Bank of New South Wales, 22s 6d; and British tobacco, Is 6d.

Another favourable development is an improvement in t!ie wool market which is believed to have turned the corner.
