STEERING ROD BREAKS

CAR GOES OVER BANK (By Telegraph—Press Association) WAITUKURAU, This Day. A seriou3 motor accident occurred on Pukeora sanatorium hill yesterday afternoon. A car driven by J. J. Mansfield, of Palmerston North, and containing his wife, three children, and a niece, was proceeding from Palmerston North to Napier when it plunged over a thirty foot bank owing to the steering rod breaking. Mrs Mansfield was thrown through the windscreen, sustaining extensive cuts, abrasions, and shock, A daughter was badly crushed about the chest and body, and was admitted to Vv'aipukurau Hospital in serious condition. ' The other occupants are suffering from bruises and shock.
