KARAMEA'S PLIGHT
MR G. C. BLACK'S REPRESENTATIONS That Karamea has experienced an 'unenviable time since the earthquake is shown by a telegram which Mr G. C. Black, M.P., has received from Mr McLean, chairman Buller County Council, who resides at Karamea. It states: "Things in very bad state. River silted up so bad that the Kotiti could not turn at the wharf, and the Fairburn stuck in the river last trip. Captains consider the port will only be workable at spring tides." Mr Black has telegraphed Sir Joseph Ward at Rotorua urging the Prime Minister to arrange for the Marine Department to give immediate attention to this very serious problem.
