(United Press Association—By Electrla Telegraph—Copyright)

(Received 31st January, 8.40 a.m.) DELHI, 30th Jttauary. Yesterday was the greatest day in the Allahabad fair. It is officially estimated that 4,500,000 persons bathed in the Ganges. A tragedy was narrowly averted when a young male elephant became fractions and gored a female elephant and ran amok, tramping on huts which soon caught fire. With 2,000,000 people packed in a space of two miles long and one mile wide there was imminent risk of scores of casualties, but thanks to the resource of the magistrate and superintendent of police the beast was ultimately safely recaptured.
