Bennett and Lucas won by default. Pimps find levies beat Mabin and Wood 4-6, 8-6, 6-3. Ladies' Championship Doubles Miss St. John and Mrs Whitwell beat Misses Bennett and Watts 6-2, 6-3. Miss Aolieson and '.Mrs Rout bent Mis .Nelson and Mrs McLaren 4-6, 10-8, 6-4. Ladies' Championship Singles Miss SI. John beat Miss Bennett 6-0, 6-4. Combined Championship Doubles Dee and Miss Prussing beat ft. J. Bennett and Miss Bennett 6-2, 6-3. Combined Handicap Doubles Cannington and Miss Woods (scr) beat Dee and Miss Prussing (owe 10) 60-53. Kirk and Mrs McGregor (owe 5) beat Tlminason and Mrs Bailley (rec. 8) 60-52. .Men's Handicap Doubles Williamson and Knight (owe 10) beat Dr. lie It and Brammall (rec. 10) 6044. ft. J. Bennett and Lucas (owe 10) beat Knight and Williamson (owe 10) 70-54. Ladies' Handicap Doubles Mrs McGregor and Miss Prussing won bv default. 'Mrs Bout and Miss Ache'son won by default. Mrs Nelson and Mrs McLaren (rec. 5) beat Misses Bennett and Watts (rec. 8) 50-45. Ladies' Handicap Doubles (Nelson District) Mrs Nelson and Mrs McLaren won by default. Miss Berrvman and Miss Fear won by default.

The New Zealand lawn tennis championships have now reached an interest/ ing stage. After rain caused a postponement yesterday morning the sun came out iii the afternoon and the ;fimaindcr of the day was warm. The fourth round of the men's singles saw D. G. France, A. Seay, C. E. Malfroy and C. Angas register wins. In the men's doubles semi-finals, N. ft. C. Wilson and A. C. Stedman beat C. Angas and N. G. Sturt 6-4, 7-5, »<-!; and D. G. France and K. E. Malfroy beat M. L. Lampe and A. L. France 6-1, 6-0, 6-3. In the ladies' singles the leaders after (lie third round are: Miss M. Macfarlan, Mrs W. J. Melody, -Miss D. N'icholls and Miss M. Myers. In the ladies' doubles semi-finals, Mrs ft. P. Adams and Mrs .N. Thomson beat Mrs W. G. 'Stnrmam and Miss N. Lloyd, 6-3, 6-1. Misses Wake and Andrew beat Mesdames W. J. Melody and W. A. Scott 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. The mixed doubles only reached the second round stage. Aliases I. Morrison and C. Longmore won the girls' doubles championship. WELLINGTON, This Day. The tennis championships were continued in warm, dull weather, with a slight northerly wind. Play commenced at 10.30 a.m. In a match abandoned last night owing to failing light, AJ Frances iind Miss Howe beat Johns and Miss Knight 6-0, 6-8, 12-10.

SYDNEY, 30th January. The Davis Cup try outs were resumed at Sydney to-day. C .Sproule, who until recently was practically unknown, defeated Hopman 7-5. 6-3, 6-0. Willnrcl beat Moon 1-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.
