The “New Zealand News” (London) of Bth October states: —“The engagement is announced of Mr J. N. Peart and Miss Anne Phillips, only daughter of Dr. Phillips, Norbury, 5.W.15. The marriage will probably take place next year. Mr Peart has been a house master at Epsom College since leaving Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and has been in charge of the Rugby and the O.T.C. He hopes to return to New Zealand in a year or two’s time if a suitable appointment offers.”' Mr Peart was formerly on the teaching staff of the Nelson Bovs’ College. A Wanganui Press Association telegram reports the death of Mr Alex Donald Mackintosh, chairman of the Wanganui County Council for nine years chairman of the directors of the Okoia dairy factory, and associated with other local bodies.

Mr W. R. May, “the father of the Bhow, was present at Richmond Park to-day. He makes it a rule to come through from Christchurch for this function every year, and his old friends were very pleased to see him in such excellent health.
