MOTUEKA

INDEPENDENT ORDER OF , ' RECIIATtITES (From Our Own Correspondent) The annual meeting of the Nelson Provincial Council. Independent Order of Rechabites, was held at Mot-ueka on Saturday, Brother Day (Provincial Chief Ruler) presiding. Delegates were present, from Nelson, Bright water, Wakefield and Motueka- tents. Reports were received, and in tiiese the most encouraging feature was the steady increase in the membership of the Juvenile Tents in Nelson and Motueka. ‘ The election of officers resulted as follows : —Provincial Chief Ruler, Bro. A. W. Newth (Wakefield); Provincial Deputy Ruler, Bro. Leaper (Nelson); Provincial Secretary and Superintendent Juvenile Work, Bro. P. Barnett- (Nelson). Bro. S. E., Tlulherl, the retiring secretary, who did not seek re-election, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for faithful work accomplished, as secretary since the formation of the Provincial Council in 1924. >

After tea an adjournment was made to the Whakarewa Home, where a most enjoyable social was held. Bro. S. E. Hulbert presided and Nelson, Bright - water and Motueka members, both adultand junior, contributed musical and elocutionary itfms. The programme also included various games. Subsequent to a handed rapid supper the Rev. L. A. Brooks moved a hearty vote of thanks to the performers and to the host and hostess, Air and Mi’s Stewart.
