SIR GEORGE FENWICK
TRIBUTES FROM COLLEAGUES (by Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. The following resolution was passed by the directors of the Press Association to-day: “The directors of the United Press Association of New Zealand, Limited, desire to express their profound sorrow at the death of their colleague and chairman, Sir George Fenwick, one of'the founders of the Association, and a director continuously since 1879.” It was resolved that the following minute be recorded in tbo minute book: “Through the death of Sir George Fenwick, Now Zealand journalism loses its premier representative. He took a leading part in the establishment of this Association, was largely responsible for its development in its early days, guided it wisely and with unfailing courage, and assisted actively in the direction of its affairs until his death. llis colleagues ever regarded him with admiration and affection, and they feel that in his death they lost both a leader and friend. They desire to record their appreciation, of'his distinguished services, hot, only to the Association hut to journalism in general. They beg to tender to Lady Fenwick and her family, the deepest sympathy of all the members of the Association; that a copy of this resolution he forwarded to Lady Fenwick ; that the Association tender its sympathy to the Otago Daily Times and Witness Company, Ltd., on the death of its managing director.”
