"THE FOREIGN LEGION": A THRU. LINO ROMANCE OF ALGIERS

'l'hc most spectacular and powerful drama in many years will be screened at The Regent Theatre' to-night and will continue its short season till Friday evening. It is "The Foreign Legion," costarring Norman Kerry and Lewis Stone, supported by beautiful Mary Nolan and June Marlowe. The colourful Algerian desert and the drawing rooms of London comprise the principal locales of the story. It is sheer drama, of romance and revolt, relieved with comedy masterfully placed at just the right .spots. It cannot hint your enjoyment, by being liihi that the story revolves around the powerful situation of a son and his father opposed to each other, neither knowing who tht! other is. The action takes place in Algiers and is featured by sensational photographic beauty. On the dramatic siele, high-lights are the troops and the mutiny in the; clojert led by Kerry unknowingly against his father, the commanding officer. They also are pitied for the smiles of Mary Nolan, blonde and dangerous. Another powerful sequence is where the father is presiding judge at his son's trial. Stone and Kerry give powerful characterisations. Alary Nolan is equally strong in her role. The comedy is largely sunplied by Walter Perry who docs well, while the romantic interest is furnished with sympathy, by dune Marlowe. Craufurd Kent is splendid in an unsympathetic role. The story was written by I. .\. I!. MAJESTIC: BEERY AND HATTON IN "PARTNERS IN CRIME" A city is steeped ill crime and two underworld gangs engage in deadly war fare because one baud has encroached upon the other's territory. Wallace licery and Raymond Nation arc on the trail of the crooks! That is the situation in "Partners in Crime," the Paramount melodramatic comedy, which opens at the Majestic Theatre to-night. Kor the first time since they have been starred as team comedians, Beery and llatton are provided in "Partners in (.'rime" with a straight melodramatic sinry, A story teeming in thrills, abounding in humorous situations and with an interesting love (heme woven through it. Beery lakes the part of a "dud" detective and llatton plays dual roles; those of a newspaper reporter, and of a savage gang leader. The stars do iiill clown or wear ludicrous costumes in 'his picture. The story furnishes plenty of laughs through legitimate situations mill Beery and llaltun make the most of the comedy possibilities. The east includes Mary Brian.
