ADVISORY WORKERS
COUNCIL COMMITTEES CHRTSTCHURCH MOTION (By Telegraph—Press Aftfoeiatdoa) CHRISTCHURCH, 10th June. The Cliristcnurcli City Council tonight agreed to the following motion, proposed by Councillor Armstrong: "That a representative of the workers employed in the departments under the jurisdiction of the Works, Electricity, and Reserves Committees be associated with those committees in a purely advisory capacity in the same way as representatives of the master butchers arid milk vendors - are associated with .eoriiniittees of the council; the giving effect to this motion to be deferred mitip the eoriiniittees named have reported recommending the terms arid condition under which the appointment of such associate members of the committees shall be made; it being ;understood; however, that' the work of the associate' members shall be confined to the discussion of such matters as especially affect the interests of the workers represented!"
The resolution was supported- by all the Labour councillors and vigorously opposed by the non-Labour councillors with the exception of tlie Independent (Dr. Tjiackcr). No division was called, and-the motion was carried on the voieos.
