While President Hoover has no information about Mr MacDonald's possible visit to the United States during the coming summer, it-is indicated, here that the Prime Minister is assured of a cordial welcome. .. Official circles here prefer to have: it appear that should Mr MacDonald come, discussions would deal with general Anglo-American relations, hut the best opinion is that he would deal particularly with naval armament. General Dawes, the newly-appointed United States Ambassador to Britain, is due to arrive at London toirnorrow, and it is reported that he will extend.an invitation from President Hoover to Mr Ramsay MacDonald to visit the United States in the autumn. It is known that Mr Baldwin, had he continued in, office as Prime • Minister, intended to personal visit to the President' of. the United States this year, and it is considered likely that.Mr MacDanald may decide to- make the journey. . /V ; If the project is carried out, the Prime Minister will probably go to the United States after the House of Commons, adjourns in July,' and before it reassembles towards the end of October.
