TRAMS AND BUSES
BOTH NEEDED (United Press' Association—By Elcotria Telegraph—Copyrigk ♦ (Australian Press Association) (Received 12th June, 9.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. "The Government has no intention of scrapping its trams," declared the Minister of Local Government, Mr Bruxner. "On the contrary, it intends to ensure complete co-ordination between trams and buses through the new Transport Board." Mr Bruxner pointed out that he had received information from Britain showing that trams there were not being scrapped, but the tendency was rather to extend them. It was a wild statement to say that London was scrapping its tramway system. In America, as in Britain, • it "was found that neither trams nor buses could adequately cope with the growing traffic. Precisely the same conditions applied to Sydney.
