FARMERS’ UNION MEETING
(Prom Our Own Oorrcspondent) A. meeting of the iMotueka-Riwaka branch of the Farmers’ Union was held m Bowers’ .Sample Ihui-m for I lie purpose <>f discussing the proposed visit of tile 500 farming delegate,-, to the district. Members of the Progress League and the Borough Council attended i>v invitation. Mr L. Harvey, who occupied the chair, intimated that the Provincial .Executive had arranged to bring the delegates to Mu-tneka on 3-3t.li May. They would arrive in Motucka at noon, travelling via Tasman; and then proceed to Riwaka. After considerable discussion regarding* arrangements for luncheon, etc., it was decided to entertain the visitors at a light luncheon in the Domain; and for this purpose a central executive consisting of Messrs P. L. Harvey, O. (Wilkinson, J. .Marlin, ,S. (1. .Smilli, CL Hobson, A. Ryder, Woodley, Newport and the Mayor of Motucka was set up. It was also decided that a civic reception lie tendered in the Domain, at which I lie W’aimea Council would lie ullicially asked to participate. A recommendation to the executive Inarrange for the return journey to Nelson being made via the Motuoka river terminated the meeting.
