ARCHBISHOP REDWOOD
WILL REMAIN HERE UNTIL MONDAY NEXT His Grace Archbishop Redwood had an interesting- time of sight-seeing yesterday, lie arrived in Nelson by 'the morning steamer from Wellington, and after a few hours rest at the Presbytery, a visit was paid to the Cawthron Institute, where he Was met by the Director, Professor Easterfield, and shown over the institution. In Ihe afternoon, the Archbishop, accompanied by the Rev. Father O'Connell. was taken by the Mayor (Mr VV. J. Moffatt) for a motor run. The first stop was at Pioneers' Park, where the Mayor detailed the history rf King's Acre and the transformation that had been effected within a recent period. His Grace admitted that the area had been altered to such an extent that he failed to see any resemblance to the place as he once knew it. It was a pity, he thought, that the adjacent sections had not been acquired years before, but the present result was very gratifying. The journey was then continued up Washington Valley, through Queen's Drive and down Bisley's new road through Mahana, to Tahunanui, and then across the Sands to near the dressing sheds. Continuing through Annesbrook and over the bridge the. return to town was by way of Bishopdale. When passing "Melrose" (Mr P. B. Adams), the Archbishop remarked to the Mayor that it was the place where his brother liberated the first deer that were imported from the old country. His Grace will return to Wellington by the Arahura on Monday evening
