LONDON PRODUCE PRICES The Department of Agriculture has received the following * cablegram, dated 28th March, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : "Tallow.—Quiet demand at auction. "Apples: Port Hobart discharged ?sth March. With the exception of slight waste in Gravensteins and Worcester Permairs. consignment carried well, but Cox's Orange practically all more or less pitted. Few Dunn's Favourite also show pit. Owing to large quantities of American on hand and to arrive, New Zealand met slow sale, and poor condition of Cox's Orange also caused buvers to hold back. About one-third of the consignment sold to date. Prices: Cox's Orange (according to condition and grade), 18s to 30s per case; Dunn's Favourite and Gr»venstei(i, 13s to 16s; Worcester Pearmain, 13s to 13s 6d; Alfriston, 14s to 16s. American selling at: Newtown Pippin, 12s to 13s 6d; Stayman's Winesap, 10s 6d to 12s. "Hemp.—Manila market dull and tinsettled early this week, but lower grades close steady. Value of March-May and April-June shipments J grade £36 10s. Sisal: Market quiet but steady. Small sales reported of fair average quality No. 1 at £39, but difficult to buy any quantity at this figure. Closing value nearer £49. No. 2 fair average quality £37 10s, and good marks 10s moire. New Zealand: Market continues quiet. Nominal comparative values are unchanged.
