BOWLING TOURNEY

CONCLUSION OF PLAY BAR!LETT'S RINK THE WINNERS, One of the most successful bowling tournaments held by the Nelson Centre was concluded yesterday afternoon, when the semi-finals and finals were played. The weather was again perfect, and a large number of visitors' watched the concluding stages of play.. The final was played off between rinks i skipped by J. G. Bartlott (Nelson) and \ J. W. Cliing (Wakefield), and after a; close game, with only a point differ- i enco between the scores when the twentietli head was completed, Bartlett; won by 20 to 17. Before leaving for home last evening Mr Stone, president of the Dominion Association, expressed his appreciation and thanks to the Centre for the way the visitors were entertained, and also remarked on the excellent manner in which the tournament had been conducted. THE FINAL Following are details of the play: Ist head: Smith drew a good "one, but Kingsland ran it off and lay near the jack. Best missed with a run and drew a good second with his next. Bartlett just failed to get the shot, and Ching failed to get another. Ching 1, Bartlett 0. 2nd head: Bullard drew a good one ! behind kitty, Ricketts two more, and Ching lay 3. Best was short with his first and wide with second. Ching got a fourth, but Bartlett hit the kitty and burned the head. Wilding trailed the kitty but Bollard had the shot. Smith disturbed the jack and lay 1. Best failed to improve. Ching "just failed with his first and was short with his second. Bartlett failed to get up. Bartlett 1, Ching 1. 3rd head: Ricketts got a good one, but Best drew a better shot. Kingsland was close with a run. Ching played narrow and Bartlett drew another. Ching with his second went between the shot bowls. Bartlett 3, Ching 1. 4th round: Wilding got a good one. Ricketts got the shot, but Smith beat it with a beauty. Best was short and Kingsland ran the shot out. Bartlett was short with his first and narrow with his second. Ching drew another. Bartlett 3, Ching 3. sth head: Wilding drew on to the jack with a toucher. Ricketts just failed to disturb it, and Smith drew another good one. Ricketts missed with a drive. Smith got another behind kitty. Ching disturbed the head, leaving Bartlett lying 2. Bartlett 5, Ching 3. Otli head: Both leads short with their first. Wilding promoted Bollard. Smith was heavy ' and Bullard drew another. Smith was short with his second. Kingsland got another good shot. Bartlett played a running shot but hit the front stuff. Cliing got one in front. Bartlett missed again. Ching disturbed the jack and lost the shot. Bartlett (i, Ching 3. 7th head: Smith got a toucher. Bullard with his second just missed displacing the shot. Best drew two more. Best failed to get up, but had hard luck with his second. The skips failed to alter the head. Bartlett 7, Ching 4. 9th head: Bullard lay shot and Ricketts drew another. Smith touched the jack, but failed to trail and was narrow with his second. Best drove with his second and tipped kitty nearer to

shot bowls. Bartlett got the jack full and made a dead head. Wilding drew two good shots. Ricketts failed with a drive. Kingslands played a running shot, and scored with a good one. Best recovered the shot. Skips short with their first, but Ching drew a beautiful toucher with his second. Bartlett 7, Ching 5. JOtli head: Smith had tiie shot with a poor one. Kingsland and Best were .in the ditch with their first, and got poor ones with their second. Ching promoted a bowl and Jay 2. Bartlett was too heavy, and Ching drew another one. Bartlett again heavy with his second. Ching 8, Bartlett 7. 11th head: Ricketts had the shot. Best with his second beat it, lying 2ft from the jack. Ching was short. Bartlett drew a good one and was 2 up. Ching failed to run the shot bowls out. Bartlett 9, Ching 8. 12th head: Wilding got handy to kitty with his first, but Bullard beat it. The shot bowl had not been disturbed when skips went down. Bartlett got the jack with a beauty and lay 1. Ching played a good bowl, and just failed. Bartlett 10, Ching 8. 13th head: Bullard got a good one, and Best drew the shot with a fine toucher. Kingsland drove with his second, sprung the head, and left Bartlett lying 2. Bartlett drew another. Ching saved two with his second. Bartlett 11, Ching 9. 14th head: Smith drew the shot on the jack. Ching recovered the shot with a beauty. Bartlett picked out the kitty and burned the head.' In the play off Bullard got a good one and Ricketts another. Bartlett got second : with his first bowl. Both skips went through the head. Cliing 10, Bartlett 12. 18th head: Both leads got touchers and Bullard lay 2. Smith drew the shot, but Ricketts beat it. Ching was short. Bartlett drove, got the jack, and scored 3. Ching 10, Bartlett 15. 18th head: Bullard got a good one with his second. Kingsland ran the kitty and Ching still lay 1. Bartlett failed to get up, but with his second ran the shot out for 3. Bartlett 18, Ching 10. 20th: Smith lay a nice shot with his first and got good position with his second. Kingsland played a lovely shot, a toucher. Bartlett was narrow and got caught in front. Ching not up. Bartlett had hard luck in getting through the head with his second, leaving Ching 1 up. Bartlett 18, Ching 17. 21st head: The light was now very bad. Wilding just missed carrying the jack, and Bullard got the shot with a poor one. Wilding put up a good one. Ricketts made a good attempt to run it out. Smith got a second shot, but Ricketts beat it. Kingsland just missed with a running shot and Best was wide. Kingsland with his second ran kitty and Ching lay 1, making the scores level. Best tried to get the jack for 3 and nearly gave Ching another. Ching played narrow with his first, and Bartlett drew very close. Ching:failed to draw another with his second. With the last bowl, Bartlett played a beautiful heavy shot, and left himself lying 2.
