"NOT UNTHINKABLE"

AN ANGLO-AMERICAN WAR REV. J. R. CAMPBELL'S IMPRESSIONS AFTER TOUR OF THE STATES (United Press Association—By Eleotrio Telegraph—Oopyright) (Australian Frees Association.—United Service) LONDON, 31st .March. "We are being consistently told on this side of the Atlantic that an AngloAmerican war is unthinkable. Don't you believe it. It isn't unthinkable," said the Rev. J. R. Campbell at Brighton after an extensive tour of the United States. "We used to say that an Anglo-German war was unthinkable. Moreover, we have already fought America twice, and another Anglo-American war will come if matters are allowed to drift as at present. I was dismayed at many things I heard and read concerning America's intention and readiness to proceed to extremities against Britain. Although there are more idealists in America than in any other part of the world except Britain, there is an element which hates Britain and would welcome the thought of attack. Another element does not particularly want war, but is fullv determined that America shall replace Britain as mistress of the seas. They are strong enough to succeed because they have money, while Britain has not. We must be determined, no matter under what circumstances, not to draw the sword' against Americans. Let them .say and do. Let them build what they like. Let us go to arbitration a thousand times and lose rather than fight. Ultimately spiritual forces will be uppermost."
