SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC

The Congregational Sunday School p : cnic was held at the Maitai on Saturday afternoon. It w?s intended to hold it *at- Hanbv Park, but owing to the footbridge being washed away it was le cided to gi further, just below the cart bridge. Games and races were indulged in and all enjoyed’a very pleasant afternoon. The prize-winners in the races, etc., were as follows: —Girls: Nellie Jones 1, Frances Henderson 2; Peggy Goughian 1, Ruby Hart 2. Boys: Jack Coughlan 1, Mick Coughlan 2, Harold Kart 3; Ray Jury 1, Percy Jones 2, Douglas Thompson 3; Wilfred Hart 1, Frank Barltrop 2, Alex Way 3. Mixed race: Belle Jones and Zelia Coughlan (dead-heat) 1, William Ogg 3. Wheelbarrow race: Harold Hart and Mick Coughlan 1, Roy Jury and William Ogg 2; girls, Mavis Thompson and Zelia Coughlan 1, Alleen Bruce and Ruby Hart 2. Three'-legged lace: Harold llart and Mick Coughlan 1, Ero Brice and Nellie Jones 2, Douglas Thompson and Percy Jones 3, Alleen Brice and Ruby Hart 4. The winner of the skipping contest was Belle Jones, who skipped 360 times. Zelia Coughlan was runnerup with 320.
