AUSTRALIAN WINES

MAY RECEIVE PREFERENCE IN BRITISH COLUMBIA (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian Press Association) VANCOUVER, 2nd 'March. The possibility of British Columbia giving preference to Australian wines is being discussed unofficially here. It is pointed out that the province is facing the possible loss of States lumber markets through the tariff barrier, and Australia might reciprocate in the matter of lumber in return for wine preference. Colonel Nelson Spencer, Vancouver member, discussing the proposition, said it would not only be consistent with the policy of trailing within the Empire, but sound business to buy the bulk of the province’s wine from Australia.
