MAJESTIC THEATRE: OPENING NIGHT To-night will see the opening of Nelson’s own theatre, one that is up-to-date with its seating, lighting, and stage accommodation, and can equal the best theatres in New Zealand. His Worship the Mayor (Mr W, J. Moffatt) will perform the opening ceremony and declare the theatre open to the public for piclure and theatrical performances. The beautiful lighting effects, furnishings and decorations will be sure to impress patrons, who have good reason to bo proud of their theatre. A special picture programme lias been booked for Hie occasion. The main feature will be “Two Lovers,” adapted from Baroness Orczy’s famous novel, “Leatherface.” Ronald Colman and Vilma Banky are the stars in this fine presentation, and as they are two of the most popular players in filmland to-day it is fitting that they should _be the screen stars to be seen in the Majestic. Special attention has been paid to tlie projection and musical sections of the entertainment. Two now Simplex projectors have been installed, and tlio long waits between changing of spools wifi no longer exist. Patrons will be able to see tho whole film from start to finish without a stop. The orchestra consists of seven players, and is under the conductorship of bliss Madeline Joyce (late of Fullers’ Theatres). Tho Fuller-Havward directors, who control the management of the new theatre, have decided to standardise the prices of admission, and these will be the same every night of the week, and there will be no raised prices for “specials” except on rare occasions, when a mammoth or exceptionally costly picture of tlie “Ben IJur” type arrives. The box plan from to-day will be in the Majestic confectionery shop from 9 a.in. till 7 p.m., and from then to 10.3 D p.m. in the manager’s office, in the theatre. The Empire telephone number (186) will be used for the Majestic.
