MEETING OF COUNCIL
INTERNATIONAL VISITS . WELLINGTON, Thw<fjay. The Dominion Bowling Council met last night. In discussing the question of forming an International Bowling Council, Mr Scott expressed the view that the New Zealand and Australian Bowling Associations should be amalgamated. An exchange of visits not only furthered the game, but also improved the relations between the two countries. In regard to the International Bowling Council in England, the President said that no report of its doings had been received, but- New Zealand and Australia should bo strongly represented, for bo diil not think one each sufficient, seeing that England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales bad three each. Something should, bo done in that direction, and he hoped New Zealand and Australia would be united in whatever action was taken.
Mr A. J. Benzie introduced the question of the small number of entries in the tournament from the South Island, and suggested that it was due to the period at which the tournament was held. The President contended that it was not so much due to- the time that the entries were so small, as to the fact that so many small tournaments were allowed to be run by centres and clubs, and these interfered with the Dominion tournament. The Council should seriously consider whether they should allow smaller tournaments if they miliitated against the entries for the Dominion event. There was no doubt entries were falling away, and had it not been for the record entry from overseas, the Dominion tournament this year would have been a very small affair indeed. ■ They must do something towards securing more entries. It was agreed to bring the matter before the annual meeting.
