LONDON, 9th January. “It is good that during my Mayoralty the ‘ashes’ have again been awarded to England,” said the Lord Mayor, Sir Kynaston Studd, at a dinner at Mansion House. “Some of ’ you have no doubt seen a photograph of those who first brought the ‘ashes,’ which included my two brothers.”
Lord Darnley said: “I assure.you as one who has played against the Australians and knows them, they are no mean side to beat. Though we have won throo tests, we had a great deal of luck in the first two. Chapman is the finest captain England lias had.”
