ALARMING MENACE

MALARIAL MOSQUITOES A STARTLING DEVELOPMENT United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, Bth January. A startling development on the Leclon irrigation areas has come with the announcement that .malarial mosquitoes exist there in enormous quantities. This is regarded as a possible solution of the extraordinary inertia which attacked all types of people in that area during the past few months. It will be recalled there was a serious epidemic of pneumonic influenza at Leeton some time ago, after which. Dr. Ronald Harris, an expert entomologist, commenced an investigation on behalf of the New South Wales Government into the mosquito menace. His investigations have now revealed the presence of swarms of malarial mosquitoes and there is but. one element lacking to complete the cycle for the malarial mosquito ; it is the means whereby they may deliver their deadly virus. If this element presents itselt, Dr. Harris is of opinion that deatli and disaster would soon stalk through the land.
