EXPORT RETURNS ' Appended is the fifty-second annual return of exports of produce from Motueka wharf. It is for the year ended 31st- December, 1928:

The harbourmaster and secretary (Mr P G. Moffatl) attaches the following note: With reference to the item fruit. For reason of making comparisons exports arc always reduced to units of computed bushels of fresh fruit, in the annual return, because fruit and fruit products are shipped in containers of many ever varying descriptions. For instance, during Ihe year 1928. fresh fruits and preserved fruits were shipped in the following packages: Fresh fruit, 398.483 cases (each one bushel). 11.425 half cases. 1.849 boxes, 224 crates, 1,716 buckets, 13 kegs and 11 sacks. Preserved fruit, 337 hogsheads, 1490 quarter casks, 5,613 cases of pulp and jam, and 2,108 cases evaporated fruit.
