The concluding results on the second clay of the Eeefton Jockey Club’s meeting were as follows :
Second Hurdles, of 110 sovs; one mite and a half. —Lancer, 10.12 (Tilson) 1; Caliburn, 9.4. 2; Erin-go-Bragh, 10.5, 3. Scratched: Oriflamb. It was a great finish. Won bv half a bead.
President’s Handicap, of 130 sovs; one mile.—6 Fairy Tidings, 8.0 (Walsh) 1; 5 Smithereens, 8.13, 2; 1 Pangolin, 10.2, 3. Also started: 3 Moorland, 4 Inoe, 2 Double Mint. Won by half a length. Pangolin fell after passing the post and .the rider, J. Campbell, was injured. Time, 1.42 3-5. Cronadun Handicap, of 85 sovs; seven furlongs.—s Lord Middleton, 7.3 (McCann), 1; 1 Oriflamb,-8.13, 2; 4 Rina Maunga, 7.12, 3. Also started: 1 Bank Draft, 2 Some Lad. Won easily by alength and a half. Time, 1.30. Broadway Trot, of 95 sovs: one mile and a half.—s Mona Logan, 43yds bhd, 1; 2 Great Author, 12yds bhd, 2; 6 Lady Bee, 3. Also started: Pavlova, Gold Rush, Leading Lady. Won by a neck. Time, 3.34 2-5. Inangahua Handicap, of 85 sovs; six furlongs and a half.—s Star Stranger 11., 7.9, 1, 6 Skyquest, 9.2, 2 ; 4 Spode, 8.1, 3. Also started: Grevfmch, King Cheops, Anthonie, Para, Lucklaine. Won by a length. Time, 1.22. "Farewell Handicap, of 100 sovs; seven furlongs.—2 Moorland, 10.5, 1; 1 Kavitane, "8.2, 2; 3 Double Mint, 7.8, 3. Also started : Solfello, Rina Mangu Gaslight Killaddie. Won by a head. Time, 1.29 3-5.
The amount invested on the totalisator was £7521, as compared with £6Bll on the second day last year.
